The preparation of this pickle is very simple. You can prepare it in two types. Good Gooseberries - cleaned and cooked Garlic - peeled and cut into two pieces Green chilles chopped Curry leaves Green chillies Fenugreek Clean the gooseberries ( Nellikka) thoroughly and cook it by adding little water. Then drain out the water and wipe the water particles from the cooked.
Instructions to make Nellikka Meen Curry (Gooseberry Fish Curry):
- Heat a pan or earthen pot (manchatty) and add oil
- Splutter fenugreek seeds
- Add ginger & garlic slices and saute
- Add sliced small onion, slitted green chillies, curry leaves and saute till onion turns slight brown.
- Add turmeric and chilly powder mixed with a tsp of water.
- Add grinded gooseberry and saute well.
- Add salt, fish pieces and enough water to cook the fish.Cover and cook for 15 mins.
- Add coconut paste and allow to boil.
- Switch off the flame and drizzle some oil on the top.
