The ingredients needed to make Ghee Rice:
  1. Take 1 . Basamathi rice - 1 cup
  2. Make ready 2 . Onion - 1 big thinly sliced
  3. Get 3 . Ghee - 2 tbsp

  5. Make ready 5 . Cinnamon - 1 inch
  6. Take 6 . Cloves - 2
  7. Prepare 7 . Bay leaf - 1
  8. Take 8 . Water - 1.5 cups
  9. Take 9 . Salt - as needed
  10. Get 10 . Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  11. Prepare To Garnish:
  12. Get 1 . Roasted cashews - 1/4 cup
  13. Make ready 2 . Fried onion - 1 tbsp
Steps to make Ghee Rice:
    1. Wash basmathi rice thoroughly and soak in water for about 20 minutes. Exactly 20 minutes not more than that. Drain the water and keep aside. - 2. Heat 2 tbsp of ghee in pan add cinnamon, cumin, cardamon, clove and bay leaves. Once it start to fry add thinly sliced onion. Saute nicely and add salt.
    1. Add this to rice. Add 1.5 cups of water cook in cooker until done. I use rice cooker.. You can do it in pressure cooker as well. Mind the whistle count. If you are not using any cooker just add rice to 2 cups of boiling water and cook untill all the water evaporates. - 4. Garnish with roasted cashews and fried onion.
    1. Serve hot with any spicy or creamy curry.
